The Classic Equine Sherry Cervi Twisted Wire Dogbone Short Shank Bit from the Sherry Cervi Signature Collection is an excellent choice for starting horses on the pattern or for horses with a sensitive mouth that don’t require much bit. Identical in feel to the original Diamond Short Shank, this version features a limited gag, making it ideal for horses that do not need added collection while still offering clear communication. The twisted wire, three-piece dogbone mouthpiece is broken into three pieces, allowing it to lay comfortably in the mouth while applying even pressure to the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. As Cervi notes, it’s a great option for older horses and works well as a transition bit from a traditional snaffle.
